Welcome to Art with Adah!
I have worked with children in the arts for over 25 years and I learned early on that children thrive when given the opportunity to freely use their creativity and imagination. With an assortment of art supplies, loose parts and creative freedom, children’s own brilliant ideas shine.
My art program, ‘Art with Adah,’ began as a mixed media after school enrichment program and has grown to include camps and small group sessions. I am constantly thinking of new ways to approach art and materials and I truly value the artistic process. I want to offer an opening into art for every individual child and enable them to create something that brings them joy. I strive to inspire curiosity, creativity and confidence in my students.
In the last few years, my focus has been after school art classes at View Ridge Elementary School and Art and Nature Summer Camps. As an art historian, I want to inspire my students by sharing stories of artists and their art. As a teacher and mother, I love to see how excited my students are to explore and transform ideas and materials.

About Me
I have loved art since I was a small child. I grew up in Newfoundland, Canada, in a house surrounded by a beautiful forest. I filled my days with books and art, my pets, long winters with my family by the fireplace, playing board games and building doll houses and tree forts. I loved making collages, drawing and writing stories. I was also immersed in the performing arts, especially ballet and theater, and it was in Kittiwake Dance Theater’s performing arts summer camp that I had my first opportunity to teach young children.
I have a B.A. (Queen’s, Ontario) and an M.A. (University of British Columbia) in Art History and a certificate in Museum Studies (University of Washington). I volunteered and worked in several Seattle museums including the Seattle Art Museum, the Burke Museum, the Pacific Science Center, the MOHAI, the Henry and the Bainbridge Art Museum. Through all of these incredible experiences I have learned that what I loved more than anything was working with the visitors in the museums. I wanted to enable young people to fully experience the art, ideas or educational materials they were curious about. This experience inspired me to pursue early childhood and elementary school education.
Along with teaching enrichment art classes, I have taught at SEED, an early childhood school with a curriculum founded on Reggio Emilia teachings. I am always inspired by children’s ideas and perspectives, and the incredible ways they create art. During the last few months, while home during the pandemic, I have made use of free time to dive into many new art projects with my children. I look forward to sharing this fun with others!
